Herne Bay in the record

The record’s late-era standout: three Division One titles across the 1990s, the Premier Division championship of 2011–12 won while the reserves took Division One, and three cup wins either side of the millennium.

What the record shows

Herne Bay’s first recorded championship comes in 1991–92, in Division One’s top-flight era, and the club repeats in 1996–97 and 1997–98 — the last champions of Division One before the Premier Division name arrives. The first of its recorded cup wins lands in the middle of that run, in 1996–97.

The club’s strongest recorded season is 2011–12: champions of the Premier Division while Herne Bay reserves win Division One — a first-and-reserves double the record otherwise credits only to Thamesmead Town in 2007–08 and, via the North section, Cray Wanderers in 2002–03. The reserves had already won Division One in 2009–10 and Division Two in 2008–09.

On the cup roll, Herne Bay win in 2009–10 and retain the trophy in 2010–11 against Hythe Town. Three recorded final defeats — 1978–79, 1997–98 and 2004–05 — complete an unusually full knockout ledger for the record’s closing decades.
