Getting it right

Challenge the record

If something on this site is wrong, it should be corrected — quickly and visibly. This page explains what a useful challenge looks like and what happens to it.

What helps a correction succeed

  • The exact page and value — which season, which club, which figure.
  • A checkable source — a publication, programme, contemporary report or archive capture that someone else could verify. “I was there” is a lead worth having, but the record changes only when it can be checked.
  • The scope of the problem — one wrong entry, or a systematic issue with a whole table.

What happens next

A challenge that checks out results in the page being corrected. If the evidence shows a record cannot be trusted but the truth is not yet provable, the record moves to an incomplete-record status rather than staying up wrong. Corrections that change a published value are noted on the affected page so the change itself is visible.

How to reach the archive

This site launches without a contact form or a published mailbox, deliberately: an unread inbox is worse than none. Until a monitored channel is added, corrections travel by the routes that already reach the site’s maintainers — the people who host or link to this archive know who keeps it. When a monitored channel exists, this page will name it.

What is not a correction

  • Requests to add records without a source — see the methodology.
  • Requests to present the archive as a current competition, which it is not.
  • Promotional additions of any kind.
