Claim classes
- Verified record
- A value present in a captured, structured source — for example a champion in the 1966–2013 divisional record. It is published as fact, with its source docket nearby.
- Scoped note
- A statement a source supports only partially. The wording names its own limits: “the record shows”, “within the captured span”, and similar.
- Time-sensitive guidance
- Practical or funding information that changes. It carries the date it was checked and a link to the page where the current version lives. This archive never republishes criteria or amounts as if they were permanent.
- Incomplete record
- A record the historical site once published but which has not yet been re-verified. The route stays open, states what is known and what is not, and contains no invented entries. Examples: the Reserves Cup and final tables.
- Editorial interpretation
- Reading between records — patterns, rivalries, context. Always separated from sourced fact in the text, as on the Kent derbies page.
Dating rules
Dates shown against sources are the dates the material was captured or inspected — never a decorative “last updated” stamp. If a page shows no date for a claim, the claim is structural (drawn from the verified record) rather than time-sensitive.
What is never done
- No table is completed with plausible-looking entries to avoid a gap.
- No archived prose is copied from historical captures; facts are extracted, text is rewritten.
- No claim is extended beyond its source’s span — the champions record ends in 2012–13 because the source ends there.
- No mock-up, illustration or design reference is treated as a factual source.
Season naming
Seasons display as YYYY–YY. The two source datasets write seasons differently (2008-09 and 2008/09); they are normalised for display but never merged in a way that changes which season a record belongs to. Club names keep the exact spelling of the source record, including historical forms and reserve-side designations.
Corrections
A record that fails a challenge is corrected or withdrawn, not defended. The corrections page describes what evidence helps and how changes are recorded.
